"Everything in Existence" by fuse* [Artechouse in Washington DC]

Starting a blog to share my personal thoughts and experiences has always been a personal goal of mine. I have made a few attempts in the past, but those attempts have always been unsuccessful because of my inability to stay consistent with posting and my natural tendency to turn everything into an overwhelming chore. Each time that I felt the urge to get up and try again, I would always manage to talk myself out of it.

"You aren't interesting. There are countless blogs online, your blog will never be seen. What makes you and what you have to say so important? You do not have a new, unique perspective to offer the world. You're opening yourself up to the possibility of criticism. You cannot produce quality content. Your posts will never be perfect. You're just going to fail again."

Those are all thoughts that run through my mind over and over again, and they are all very unkind, aren't they? It just goes to show that often times, we can be our own worst enemy.

2018 was the year that I felt confident enough in myself to try again and yet, I was still only able to post once for the entire year. Looking back, 2018 was a wonderful year, full of many experiences and activities, but updating Instagram alone felt overwhelming and unenjoyable. The thought of editing my photos and posting them online felt like a daunting task, and honestly, I had a difficult enough time trying to balance work, school, and personal time.

However, in the spirit of trying to grow as a human being, here I am writing about the only thing that I have to offer in this moment... my feelings. This isn't exactly what I would consider a good post, or even an interesting one, but this is me trying to take small steps back towards the things that are important to me.

I am not yet where I want to be, but at least I am not stagnant.

Always,

M
